FDA Delays Approval of Botox Used to Treat Spasticity

May 29th, 2009 · No Comments

On Tuesday  Allergan Inc., the company that owns Botox, has stated that the Food and Drug Administration has delayed approval for Botox being used to treat spasticity. The FDA has stated that they will need more information on the treatment, before it can make a decision. Allegan was hoping that Botox could be used for the treatment of upper limp spasticity in stroke victims.

Allergan believes that they will be able to give the appropriate information to the FDA in the next few months, which could open up the possiblity of approval in the next year or so.
