Botox Could Help Migraines

February 26th, 2010 · No Comments

A new study in February’s Archives of Dermatology claims that Botox could actually help prevent migraines in addition to smoothing wrinkles. Researchers don’t know exactly why the treatments help migraines, but they say it might be related to decreasing inflammation and blocking pain receptors.

Actress Kristen Chenoweth says she gets Botox injections not for cosmetic purposes but to ease her terrible migraines. She says she would not be able to sing or perform without it, though it worries her that she might not be able to move her face as much. Dermatologists say that people suffering from persistent migraines should see a neurologist and not rely on Botox.
