Different clothing colors could protect your skin

March 24th, 2010 · No Comments

A group of scientists from Spain recently conducted research to discover whether different colors affect the level of UV protection. They used pieces of the same type of fabric and dyed them different colors. They tested their protection levels and found that fabric dyed deep blue or red had a much higher level of UV protection than the piece dyed yellow.

Scientists don’t know exactly how the different colors, possibly in relation to how they react with the fabric, affect sun protection. They think this could provide an inexpensive alternative to sun-protective clothing. Extensive sun exposure can damage and age the skin.

If your skin has been exposed to a lot of sun lately, you may want to treat yourself to a refreshing facial. To learn more, contact Dermagenix Medical Spa today by calling 713-662-3376.
