A Consumer Reports study on the efficiency of sunscreen has announced its findings. Among the top sunscreens, Up & Up Sport Continuous was ranked as the best sunscreen for its price, offering good protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Other top blockers included Walgreens Sport Continuous, Banana Boat Sport Performance Continuous, and Aveeno Continuous Protection. The tests were conducted in an outdoor lab and measured both UVA and UVB blocking capability, also testing both dry and wet situations. Following such general high rankings from the majority of products, the concern seems to be shifting from sun protection to how the cream or spray feels on the skin and how it smells after applied. Considering that sunscreen is worn for an extended period of time, many think these are valid product concerns. Dermatologists were generally pleased with the results of the study, but wished that more sunscreens would have offered greater UVA protection. In short, UVB causes the skin to burn, while UVA causes skin to appear to age. As well as aging, skin cancer is primarily linked to UVA.While sunscreens are great preventative measures, if UV rays have already damaged your skin, there are treatments available to make you look younger now.
